Rahi Patra

Rahi Patra is a post-doctoral researcher at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of St. Gallen. Rahi has obtained her PhD in the Organization Studies and Cultural Theory (DOK) at the University of St. Gallen in 2026. Additionally, she has been a PhD Research Assistant on The Human Error Project. Rahi has a B.Tech degree in Information Technology from SRM University (India) and an MSc. in Public Sector Innovation and eGovernance, an Erasmus Mundus joint master’s degree from KU Leuven (Belgium), University of Münster (Germany) and Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia).

Rahi has also been awarded the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship by the European Commission. Following her interest in the ethical and social implications of datafication and digital inequalities her Master thesis, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Anu Masso was titled, ‘Digital Inequalities in a Datafied World: A Case of the Estonian e-Residency Program’. Moreover, Rahi has knowledge working on different eHealth research projects from a socio-technical perspective in Belgium, Germany and Estonia and a keen interest in the ethical use of data-driven technologies in healthcare. Her PhD project “Reimagining technoscience from the margins: Caste, sanitation work, and the making of inclusive technological futures” focused on issue of postcolonial caste identity and techno-oppression through surveillance technologies in contemporary India.
